Mission to Bohol September 2005
David Rhodes safely returned on October 1st 2005 from two weeks preaching and teaching on the island of Bohol in the Philippines. This trip was a result of contacts made on a mission to Cebu at the start of 2005 working with David Prosser. This time he went by himself; preaching and ministering at 49 meetings in 14 days in 10 different venues.
The preaching schedule started at a Presbyterian Church in Buenavista where over 500 people had come from the area to hear. A cow plus all the rice needed had been donated to provide the food for all those who attended that day. Many responded to a call to be saved and about two hundred people also responded to a call for healing prayer on that first day. From there he moved onto Tubigon, Talibon, Candijay, Ubay, President Carlos Garcia Island and Tagbilaran City. Numbers attending these sessions varied from between 50 and 200 people. Most of the time was spent encouraging leaders and church workers in one or two day seminars.
Healing and Vision
In Candijay a man of 72 testified how the previous day he had been healed from asthma; he then got up and sang a song. A young lady, after getting up off the floor after being prayed for and told those there how she had seen a vision of the Lord in all his glory. She was told to tell the people to preach the gospel and not to be ashamed to preach the gospel.
During the very last session in Tagbilaran City, just as David Rhodes started to pray for people, the heavens opened over the church accompanied by thunder and lightening. As soon as he finished praying the rain stopped and the sunshine came out again. It was a sign from God as both inside and outside the building, the Lord’s power was clearly seen.
Pastor Alonso Mantila, who had organised all the schedule in Bohol, also acted fas driver and main translator for the trip. Some local ministers translated at a few of the meetings. The final day was spent on Cebu, speaking at a Bible school and meeting with local pastors from Lapu-lapu in a McDonalds, before flying home via Hong Kong.
Keys and Wells
It is estimated that over the two weeks about 300 people were physically or emotionally healed. The Lord gave David Rhodes favour with the local leaders of the churches and they accepted his ministry willingly. Many from Bohol and Cebu have asked him to return to the Philippines but for now the work of Garw Valley Links back in Wales must take priority.
Before the trip a prophecy had been given which said the Lord had given David Rhodes keys to use in the Philippines and as they were used people would be set free. In the Philippines he would then be given keys to use in Wales. The Lord had also said wherever he went in the Philippines there were wells and the Lord was sending him to bring fresh water into those wells. From the wells water would flow through irrigation channels all over the country.
His only disappointment was that, because of the busy schedule, he did not meet with many of the friends he had made in Cebu earlier in 2005. However he believes good seed was sown and he is expecting to see a mighty harvest both in the Philippines and in Wales in the near future.
